Debate about the Current State of Debate: Eric Zorn vs. Les Lynn
Chicago Tribune columnist Eric Zorn who wrote, Change of Subject: The Affirmative Case for Reforming Academic Debate, will participate in an informal debate against Les Lynn, founding director/current director of programming, Chicago Debate League and Chicago Debate Commission, following The United Fest screening of Fast Talk at the Music Box Theatre on Sept 22nd. Zorn will argue that the current state of academic debate (where debaters speak in excess of 400 words per minute) needs to be either slowed down or done away with, while Lynn will argue that fast talk is actually educationally valuable.
